I've been meaning to make one of these for a while now. I have many ideas about what I want to do in my life. Writing these goals down will help me organize and prioritize them.
When trying to accomplish something, I've found that one of the best ways to stay motivated is to share the goal with others. You're more likely to stay focused if others know what your plans are. The feeling of letting others down or breaking a promise is something I really try to avoid.
This list is not set in stone and is certainly not exhaustive. I'm sure it will change over time. New goals will be added and some may be taken off, although I hope not too many. I've also included some of the goals that I've already accomplished because I think it's important to acknowledge and appreciate what you have already done. I've only included goals that are realistic and that I have a specific plan of action for.
So without further adieu, here it is, my "bucket list":
Education
Complete Bachelor's degree. Completed December 2009.
Become certified to SCUBA dive. Completed April 16th, 2012
Take a first aid course.
Be conversationally fluent in Spanish.
Be conversationally fluent in French.
Creative
Write a story book for a student of mine. Completed July 2011.
Learn how to play the keyboard.
Start and maintain a blog. In progress.
Adrenaline Activities
Go paragliding. Completed May 5th, 2011.
Go hang gliding.
Go skydiving.
Go bungee jumping.
Go white water rafting.
Do a polar bear swim. Completed January 28th, 2011.
Dive with sharks. Completed July 2nd, 2011.
Fitness
Run a marathon. Completed September 4th, 2011.
Run a marathon in under four hours and a half hours. Time: 4 hours 3 minutes
Run a marathon in under four hours.
Run a marathon in Ulsan, Korea. Completed March 1st, 2012
Run a marathon in India Completed April 7th, 2012 at Jim Corbett National Park.
Run a marathon in Thailand.
Run a marathon on the Inca Trail.
Run an ultra marathon.
Complete the 100 burpee challenge in under seven minutes. Completed January 3rd, 2012.
Complete the 100 burpee challenge in under six minutes.
Be able to do planche pushups.
Have sub 10% body fat.
Introspective
Make weekly (at the minimum) entries in a journal for a year. Completed. July 4th, 2011 - ?
Meditate daily for a month.
Volunteer on the Galapagos Islands.
Travel
Live and work abroad for a year. Completed June 28th 2010 - June 28th 2011 in South Korea.
Volunteer in Ecuador and see the Galapagos, Andes, and Amazon. Completed September - December 2007.
Go on a tour of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in Korea. Completed November 26th 2011
Trek to the base of Mt. Everest.
Take a boat ride on the Ganges River. Completed March 28th, 2012.
Practice Muay Thai in Thailand. Completed April-May 2012.
See Machu Picchu.
Go on a Safari.
Visit the places of my grandparents' births.
My plan is to accomplish all of these goals five years from now. Wish me luck.
